Who is Dr. Lydia

Dr. Lydia Travis, OTD, OTR/L
Certified Pediatric Neurodevelopmental Occupational Therapist
Hey there, Little Explorers and families ! My name is Lydia Travis and I am a Doctor of pediatric neurodevelopmental occupational therapist who is eager to become a part of your therapy family. I grew up in a small town in Mississippi and graduated with my doctorate in occupational therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
I got married last year and moved to McKinney, Texas with my husband who is a physical therapist. When we aren’t serving families and patients, we are probably somewhere outside playing with our brown poodle, Gunner.
What I love most about being a pediatric occupational therapist is empowering parents and kiddos to be the best version of themselves. Every session and every kiddo is different and full of joy, laughter, and small victories that make a big difference in their lives. I’m incredibly honored to be a new addition to the Little Explorers family and can’t wait to meet you all!!

Promote real-life independence – applying movement strategies to functional skills like eating with utensils, dressing, handwriting, and play.

Enhance fine motor development – guiding grasp, release, and bilateral coordination so children can hold crayons, fasten buttons, or manipulate toys with greater ease.

-
Increase participation in meaningful routines – ensuring that therapy translates into smoother involvement at school, home, and in peer play.

-
Minimize barriers from abnormal tone – not just for movement efficiency, but for better hand use, self-care, and play performance.
